You don’t often see the Mackaw together at the Cougar Mountain Zoo

The macaws at Cougar Mountain Zoo are interesting birds. I like the fact we can get so close to them. As you visit you might wonder what keeps them on their perch?

They are territorial that is why. So explains Robyn: They don’t leave their perch as the perch is theirs. They are so territorial they won’t leave to prevent another from taking their perch.

As many times as I have been there – I have never seen two together like this. I have seen their handlers pick them up for demonstration purposes, otherwise they don’t leave.
